Tucked away inside the gorgeous Hyatt Regency Savannah, Moss + Oak Savannah Eatery is the go-to spot for anything from succulent steaks to homegrown organic treats. With stunning views of the Savannah River, a lively rooftop patio and a menu that’ll inspire you to think outside the box, this restaurant and local hangout isn’t your typical hotel eatery.
Moss + Oak Savannah Eatery is proud to have Executive Chef Alison Houston whipping up Southern-inspired dishes that you won’t be able to find anywhere else in Savannah, like Sweet Potato Dumplings and Boiled Peanut Hummus. Chef Houston uses Savannah-style cast iron preparation to make authentic comfort food dishes that showcase simple, seasonal ingredients supplied by local Georgia farms. Some of her most popular dishes include Shrimp & Grits, Buttermilk Fried Chicken and She Crab Soup.
But the dishes at Moss + Oak Savannah Eatery aren’t comprised of just any ingredients. On the menu, you’ll see certain dishes marked with an adorable bee icon. This little bee signifies that the dish is prepared with Savannah Bee Company honey – but not the kind of honey you buy at the store. Moss + Oak Savannah Eatery partners with Savannah Bee Company to house a rooftop beehive on top the property. That’s right – as you dine inside Moss + Oak Savannah Eatery, busy worker bees are above you are creating fresh honey that’s used for those bee icon dishes.
An incredible beehive isn’t the only thing Moss + Oak Savannah Eatery has on their sunny rooftop. The chefs carefully tend to a lovely rooftop garden filled with fresh herbs and spices that are used in many of Moss + Oak Savannah Eatery’s homemade cocktails. Our recommendation? The Southern 75, a refreshing blend of local Ghost Coast Distillery whiskey, limoncello, lemon juice, champagne and a fresh rosemary sprig from the rooftop garden.
If you’re more of a beer enthusiast, Moss + Oak Savannah Eatery has you covered! They have an impressive beer list highlighting the latest brews from both local and national beer breweries. Stop by for a cold beer during happy hour, which is Monday through Friday from 4-7 p.m.
Better yet, take your cold brew out on the restaurant’s patio which overlooks the dazzling Savannah River and River Street! With charming fire pits and live music, the lively, covered patio is an excellent spot for a satisfying lunch, date night or after work cocktails.
