Open Fire Cooking Workshop

Educational / Food Event / Outdoor Event
Jan 26, 2019

Do you love sitting around a fire this time of year? Why not put those BTU’s to work and cook a meal while you’re at it? Oatland Island Wildlife Center will host an Open Fire Cooking Workshop on January 26, 2019 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Learn all about cooking over an open fire including: choosing and care of cast iron cookware, firewood selection and storage, charcoal cooking techniques, fire building, fun children’s cooking and recipes, and other topics. Participants will help with the food preparation and will enjoy the fruits of their labor and learning! This workshop would make a perfect gift for the outdoor enthusiasts in your life! Participants should come with an appetite and be prepared for the weather, as the workshop is held outdoors! In case of rain, the workshop will be rescheduled or refunded.

The workshop will be open to anyone 12 years and older (accompanied by an adult) and will include all the food, drinks and a door prize (sponsored by Lodge Manufacturing, Inc.) ticket! Price is $35 for adults and $20 for children (12-17), and will be limited to the first 25 paid registrants. Payment must be received by January 15 to secure a spot.

Oatland Island Wildlife Center is a unit of the Savannah-Chatham County School System and serves as a field study site for students throughout the region.
