The Savannah College of Art and Design brings more to Savannah than just college students. Besides its top-notch restaurants, trendy shops, and chic galleries, SCAD produces an array of annual events that are open to the public. You can catch SCAD events anywhere from Forsyth Park to the Trustees Theater to even Tybee Island.
This year, SCAD is celebrating 40 years in Savannah, and they’re celebrating by hosting plenty of special events. Whether you’re interested in fine art, fashion or even film, you’ll find a SCAD event that speaks to your artistic soul.

At Savannah Songs, four iconic SCAD buildings are transformed into portraits of the past! Savannah Songs is a musical walking tour through time led by the SCAD performing arts department. You’ll see live performances by over 40 SCAD students and alumni while learning about Georgia’s remarkable history.
SCAD deFINE ART recognizes emerging and established artists and visionaries.
deFINE ART— February 26-28
This unique event highlights SCAD’s incredible fine art department. See more than 10 exhibitions of thought-provoking work celebrating many forms of fine art like painting, printmaking and sculpture. SCAD DeFINE ART also hosts special commissions, exhibitions, lectures and performances, so you can get the inside look at the world of fine art.
SCADstyle — April 9-11
Immerse yourself into all things design! SCADstyle brings together influential leaders across an array of design industries like fashion, architecture, interior design, graphic design and many more. Join these top design minds for three days of thoughtful design discussions, workshops and unfiltered conversations about their dynamic industries. This year’s guests include Mary Katrantzou, Steve Madden and Phillip Picardi.

SCAD 40 WKND — April 26-28
Celebrate 40 years of SCAD in Savannah! SCAD40 WKND gathers friends and families of SCAD students and alumni all weekend long for plenty of special events. The weekend includes the unveiling of SCADstory, the SCAD40 Block Party, and the always popular SCAD Sidewalk Arts Festival, a SCAD signature event that invites students and alumni to create colorful chalk art masterpieces on the sidewalks of scenic Forsyth Park.

Head over to Tybee Island, Savannah’s beach, to see SCAD students create incredible sculptures from sand! These aren’t your typical sand castles--you’ll see everything from unbelievably lifelike mansions to massive sand animals. The SCAD Sand Arts Festival is a competition, so be sure to stick around and see who wins the top prize!
SCAD Fashion Shows — May 17-20
See the newest trends in fashion at the annual SCAD Runway Show! This high-energy fashion show is your chance to see the brilliant works of SCAD senior and graduate fashion students. In the past, the SCAD Runway Show has drawn in notable names in the fashion industry like Miss J Alexander, Derek Lam and André Leon Talley.
Crowds gather for the popular Savannah Film Festival
SCAD Savannah Film Festival — October 26 - November 2
This event is a film-lover’s dream come true! The SCAD Savannah Film Festival is an eight-day event that hosts a variety of competition film screenings, special screenings, workshops, panels and lectures from both award-winning professionals and emerging student filmmakers. Each year, the SCAD Savannah Film Festival draws in Hollywood stars to Savannah. Past attendees include Sir Patrick Stewart, Olivia Wilde, Mahershala Ali and Gena Rowlands.
